300C Hood Safety Catch
04/29/2016
John Grady has devised a safety catch for the 1957 Chrysler 300C. This is an easy to install kit consisting of three pieces. There is no drilling required. There are no modifications to the car and the safety catch can be easily removed for such things as shows and judging.
Why you need one:
Although the original hood latch has a safety catch built into the design,
it has not proven to be trustworthy. At higher speeds, air pressure is sufficient to
over power the original latch. Since replacement hoods are close to impossible
to find, it is a good idea to add this safety catch. You could use a rope as Chrysler did
for their tests in 1957, but John's method is better.
