As you can see by the winner’s
list below, we had plenty of Letter, Hurst and non-letter 300s on the
field. The club tent was more than
welcome during several rain downpours. But the weather was
not unbearably hot, the people were
nice and the cars were excellent.
Charlie Valentine was our tent
ringmaster boss and as always, did a terrific job. His black G is
stunning and worthy of all the admirers
that stopped to look. Charlie has a sign in sheet and this
year added a column for notes.
“Friendly, helpful club members” (thanks Raymond Brigley
- enjoyed
the photos of your F cv), “Very
Nice!” (Thanks Paul Wimmer) , “Want to join.” were
added. So Doug
Miller, if you’re out there, get
in touch with us. We want you to join too.
We did gain one new club member, Blake
Krabbe with his 68-300 and lots of renewals, Jack Hooks,
Lynn Nelson, Mike Frenchek, etc. We did
miss our Iola-bound folks this year, but the East Coast was
well represented along with
California’s DeAndrea Vantree, who always comes to visit. We
enjoy
seeing Chad Coulter’s black 300 F
convertible in the survivor’s tent every year. For all the rest
who
came without their car, we did enjoy
the photos. We missed photos from Mick Kreszock, Mark
Obermann, Scott Taylor, Ron Klinczar
(who promises his 65-300 for next year). Dave Dumais was
parts hunting. Ralph Rhees and Jim
Rockey promise to bring the K next year.
Love to have our vendors drop in, Dave
Clelland, Murray Park, Ray Jones, and others already named.
Happy to see our stop-and-talk-awhile
folks, Bill Laird, Alan Alkus and his lovely daughter, Sasha.
Jamie Hyde came to get some parts, and
tell tales of his many miles on the road. We saw Jason
Vernon’s 300 C and Brian Walker’s
B there, but missed them in the tent. As a side note the 300 F
listed as Gloria Moon’s is a
family “Moon car” (Allan-Gloria-Lloyd).
Paul White’s C-300 is the shell
of the C-300 dropped over a Hellcat interior, engine and drive train
with some frame modifications. It drew
lots of attention, along with his black C-300.
The two Hursts were extremely nice, and
neither one sported the side markers. Jack Hook’s Hurst
had the rim blow steering wheel and
auto door locks.
We thank everyone listed below who
drove their 300s. And if we missed mentioning you, we
apologize. And to those who couldn’t
make it this year, hope to see you next year.
