Labor Day is just around the corner as the summer of 2025 winds to a close. The fall meet in
Buffalo was a few weeks ago and early indications say a good time was had by all. I'll have the event report shortly.
Our next meet will be in Ashville, NC next May. Our host Heath Towson has a good list of activities which includes
the fantastic Biltmore estate. Put this meet on your to-do list for 2026.
The club store has a limited supply of brand new heat tubes for the J and ram K, see here.
We don't know if more of these will be available, so consider a purchase now.

I installed the new repop inside rear view mirrors from Van's today on the 61 and 62. Comparing the old and new mirrors I found differences in the stems. In the photo below, the 61 mirror from the G is on the left, the 62 Sport mirror is in the middle,
and the new mirror from Van's is on the right. All three stems are different. The 61 stem is shorter, thinner, and has a beveled edge at the mirror attachment stud. The 62 stem is longer, thicker and has a ball joint at the mirror attachment stud. The repop mirror has a stem the same length as the 62, but uses a beveled edge at the mirror attachment stud like the 61. The stem is also a little thicker at the base, the thickest of all three examples.
I'm not sure what is correct but I'm used to seeing the beveled edge for the mirror attachment stud.
Installation of the mirror: I made access via the speaker grille opening after removing the grille and speaker. I also unscrewed the HVAC bezel to allow some wiggle room with the heater switch which helped. The big speed nut is 1-7/16" and I used a socket. There is no room to attach a ratchet as the socket is big, and so I taped a 3/16" hex key through the hole in side of the socket to use as a lever. It worked. But still not a lot of fun. After I cut my hand in several places, I taped off the sharp edges on the speaker grille opening.

The 57. It is coming along.

Here is a video that popped up featuring the 300G. The club actually gets a mention.
AI voiceover is a bit tedious and not that accurate, but ok.
Some photos I haven’t seen before, so not a waste of time.

I’m currently working with Joe Bortz on a Packard estate sale here in Omaha…through conversation, Joe relayed his interest and ownership of several Virgil Exner concept cars from the 50s including his 1955 Chrysler Falcon that will be shown at Pebble Beach on August 17th.
This is an interesting video including a phone interview with Virgil Exner Jr.

And here's a more in-depth video with Joe and his '55 Falcon, interviewed by Lou Costabile, here in a northern Chicago suburb.

I took the '62 Sport to a local show yesterday as it was perfect convertible weather. It was a big hit.
