News
Our main picture is the 300B instrument panel. Sharp eyes will notice this one is equipped with a TorqueFlite. Only 25 Bs had the TorqueFlite. The first of these was built January 28, 1956; the TorqueFlite was not a late year option as often thought.
As this edition comes out, many club members are returning from our spring meet in Asheville. I hope you had have a great time and took lots of pictures. Send them to me and I'll use them in the event report.
We are ready to announce the hotel information and the event schedule for our fall meet in Bartlesville. Yes, there will be another edition of Letter Car Jeopardy! The club's registration form is still brewing -- we will have that for you soon.
This newsletter is for you. Let us know what you'd like to see.
Your opinions are always welcome.

Big News in 1957

Air filters were big news in 1957 as the replaceable paper cartridge came to market.
Unless you have a C300 or 300B, it is easy to forget oil bath air cleaner
had been the standard of the day.

Kurt Brueske writes:
This is a nice three-part series that shows how to restore the electromechanical Perfect Circle Autopilot cruise control that found its way into our beloved Letter Cars..thought Club members might be interested:

I also found that a slurry of water and Barkeepers Friend does a wonderful job sympathetically cleaning the cast aluminum casing to like new condition without scratching (use a tooth brush to gently agitate).

Larry Jett sends an oldie but goodie here.

Here is a helpful tip:

Brent Yarnell writes:
From 1976 and the 300 club meet in Indianapolis, this is Bob Dupin driving, my Dad Mark in the passenger seat, and my uncle in the back seat. That same 300F now sits in my garage.

Jarrod Hermann writes:
I wanted to share my 5 year olds birthday photo. He wanted to take photos with his car, and everyone knows this is his. Hopefully for a long while!

Dave Mason writes:
I've been having trouble with the gas tank sending units. It took me a while to run down the problem. Here is the story. Maybe my "adventure" will help you.

Write us with whatever might be on your mind.

Those Were The Days

The 300X of 1966

From 1995

A Chicken:
The only animal you eat before they are born and after they are dead.

A Mosquito:
An insect that makes you like flies better.

Language:
A house burns up as it burns down. You fill in a form by filling it out. An alarm goes off by going on.

When I was young I was stupid. After many years of hard study I am no longer young.
